Brass Bowl Dragon Engraved Ming Mark Chinese Early 20th Century
£60.00
On offer is a large antique brass bowl featuring engraved dragon decoration and a Ming style mark to the base. Although bearing a Xuande reign mark, these were commonly used on later pieces as a mark of respect to earlier periods, placing this example in the early twentieth century within the long tradition of Chinese decorative metalwork.
The bowl is of solid brass construction with deeply incised dragon motifs encircling the body, symbolising strength and prosperity in Chinese culture. It has a strong presence with a rich aged patina and an unpolished surface that enhances its character. The bowl measures approximately 10 inches in diameter and 3.75 inches in height. It remains in excellent overall condition with minor surface wear consistent with age. A fine example of a Chinese brass bowl with Ming mark that offers both decorative impact and historical reference.
