Japanese Kutani Moon Flask Vase Hand Painted Fuku Mark Antique
£ 75.00
On offer is an antique Japanese Kutani porcelain moon flask vase, decorated on both sides with hand-painted birds, peonies, and foliage in the traditional Kutani palette. This early 20th-century example, likely from the late Meiji to Taishō period, bears the Fuku (福) mark to the base, an auspicious character commonly used on Kutani ware to signify good fortune.
The vase features the characteristic flattened circular body with a narrow neck and looped side handles, along with a brown “dressed” rim and side panels often seen in earlier Kutani and related wares. Standing at approximately 7.5 inches tall, it remains in good antique condition with no chips or cracks. A light firing warp causes the vase to rock slightly, a common kiln feature in hand-formed porcelain that supports its authenticity.
