Porcelain Scent Bottle 19th Century French Hand Painted Gilded
£ 55.00
On offer is a 19th century French porcelain scent bottle, hand painted and gilded, produced during the Victorian period. This decorative perfume bottle stands a little over 6 inches tall and features a panelled form with hand painted floral decoration, cobalt blue ground panels, and fine gilt lattice and scrollwork.
French porcelain scent bottles of this type were made for use on the dressing table or boudoir and reflect the refined decorative taste and skilled craftsmanship associated with French porcelain production in the 19th century. The original shaped porcelain stopper remains present and complements the elegant form of the bottle.
The bottle is in good antique condition with minor wear to the gilding consistent with age and use. There are no chips or later cracks. A firing flaw crack is present on the left shoulder, created during manufacture and not as a result of later damage, clearly visible in the photographs.
A well preserved example of a 19th century French hand painted porcelain scent bottle with strong period character.
