Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock. Obsidian is produced when felsic lava extruded from a volcano cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. … The inhibition of atomic diffusion through this highly viscous lava explains the lack of crystal growth. This crystal is commonly known as the healing crystal and fragments are sold in jewellery.

This example was unearthed a long time ago from an old coal mine, it is massive at approx 10.5 inches long 7.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches thick and weighs approx 21 lbs or 9.4 kilos in weight.

I can not begin to explain how beautiful this is when the sunlight passes through it; it is also large enough to make a spectacular display/artwork.
