Japanese Celadon Crackle Glaze Charger with Moriage Enamel – Late 19th C
£ 155.00
On offer is a late 19th to early 20th-century Japanese porcelain charger decorated with celadon crackle glaze and detailed moriage enamel work. The charger features a vivid hand-painted scene of an Arhat beside a waterfall, executed in raised enamels and bold colours, with delicate gilding enhancing the composition. Its heavy, substantial form and decorative style are consistent with Japanese Satsuma or Kyoto production of the period.
Measuring approximately 13.5 inches in diameter, the charger remains in good antique condition with only minor wear to the gilding and no chips or cracks. The finely crackled celadon ground provides a striking contrast to the richly enamelled figures and flowing landscape.
A dramatic and finely worked example of Japanese moriage decoration, ideal for display.
