Carlton Ware Black Cat Teapot 1970s Retro

£25.00

On offer is a 1970s Carlton Ware black cat teapot, a wonderfully retro and kitsch piece of English pottery. The teapot is modelled as a stylised black cat with bright, characterful eyes and a curled tail forming the handle. One of the most charming details is the tiny mouse finial perched on the lid, a playful touch typical of Carlton Ware’s imaginative mid-20th-century novelty designs.

Carlton Ware, founded in Stoke-on-Trent in the late 19th century, became celebrated during the 20th century for its decorative and often whimsical ceramic forms. This example stands at approximately 8.25 inches tall and remains in good condition overall, with the only noted flaw being a small chip on the underside of the lid (see images).
