🔍 PROVENANCE / MAKER NOTES
Chinese export porcelain was one of the most important art forms traded to Europe and America during the 18th century. Under the Qianlong Emperor (1736–1795), workshops in Jingdezhen produced vast quantities of blue-and-white ware for export. The staple repair visible in its history is a common historic European method, later replaced with a refined Kintsugi repair — the Japanese technique of mending with lacquer and powdered gold, celebrating rather than hiding breaks. Together, these layers of repair give the piece a unique biography, linking East and West across centuries.
