Nantgarw Welsh Porcelain Plate Early 19th Century Hand-Painted c.1815–1820 (2)

On offer is an early 19th-century Welsh porcelain plate produced by the Nantgarw China Works around 1815–1820. Nantgarw is widely regarded as one of Britain’s finest porcelain manufacturers of the period, admired for its exceptionally translucent body and high-quality hand-painted decoration. Owing to the factory’s short-lived operation and fragile production process, surviving pieces are notably scarce.
This example features detailed gilded floral decoration in the classical Nantgarw style. The reverse carries the impressed “Nantgarw CW” mark—an important and sought-after detail, as many Nantgarw items were unmarked. The plate measures approximately 215 mm (8.5 inches) in diameter.
The piece is structurally excellent with no chips or cracks. The gilding shows wear consistent with age and use, as illustrated in the photographs. A fine and collectible example of Welsh porcelain from one of the most celebrated early factories.
