🔍 PROVENANCE / MAKER NOTES
Founded in 1775 under the patronage of Queen Juliane Marie, Royal Copenhagen is one of Denmark’s most prestigious porcelain manufacturers. The Blue Fluted pattern was revitalized in 1888 by artistic director Arnold Krog, with the Full Lace variant introduced as its most ornate evolution. The fluted body, hand-applied cobalt painting, and delicate lacework edging make pattern No. 1031 especially prized. The unusual mask face at the base of the handle adds symbolic intrigue and design distinction — a subtle nod to neoclassical influence.
Backstamp includes Royal Copenhagen’s crown and three waves (representing Denmark’s straits), alongside hand-painted model number 1031 and decorator’s initials, indicating first quality.
