On offer is a rare Art Nouveau sterling silver and enamel necklace made by J Aitkin and Son and hallmarked in Birmingham in 1911. The pendant displays the flowing, organic forms typical of the Art Nouveau period, with beautifully executed guilloché enamel in soft tones and hand-painted floral detailing. J Aitkin and Son were known for producing fine early 20th-century silver jewellery, often incorporating delicate enamelling and elegant lines.
The pendant measures approximately 50mm including the dropper (not including the chain), and the chain length is around 16 inches. Condition is good for its age, with some tiny enamel loss where the chain joins the pendant, noted for accuracy. A scarce example of period silver and enamel jewellery that brings character and authenticity to any collection.
