A Masque of May Morning W Graham Robertson First Edition 1904
£ 95.00
On offer is a rare first edition of A Masque of May Morning by W. Graham Robertson, published by John Lane, The Bodley Head, in 1904. This early 20th-century illustrated book is bound in green pictorial cloth with an Art Nouveau cover design typical of Robertson’s flowing, theatrical style. The volume contains twelve full-colour illustrations by the author, all present and intact.
Robertson (1866–1948) was an English artist and writer associated with the Pre-Raphaelite circle and the Art Nouveau movement, known for his imaginative fairy-tale imagery and refined decorative compositions. This large-format edition (approx. 270 × 220 mm) is a striking example of Edwardian illustrated publishing.
Condition is good for age, with some rubbing and wear to the spine and corners, as shown in the images. Internally the book is clean, and all plates remain complete.
A scarce and desirable first edition combining literary interest with fine period illustration.
