Edwardian Hukin & Heath Silver Plate and Cut Glass Biscuit Barrel
£ 95.00
On offer is an Edwardian silver plated and cut glass biscuit barrel by Hukin & Heath of Birmingham, a respected British firm established in the mid-19th century and well known for its refined metalwork and innovative tableware designs. This smaller, elegant barrel features an ovoid cut glass body with diamond, rope twist, and circular cut decoration, paired with silver plated mounts that enhance the clarity and brilliance of the glass.
The lid is fitted with a distinctive square plaque-shaped knop engraved “BISCUITS”, secured with the original twisted rope detail and period wing nut beneath. The silver plated rim is clearly marked with the Hukin & Heath “H&H” stamp, confirming its maker. Standing approximately 5.5 inches tall (excluding the handle), the piece is in very good antique condition with no chips, cracks, or stains to the glass and only light age-related wear to the plate.
A fine example of early 20th-century craftsmanship and an appealing decorative item for traditional interiors.
