🔍 PROVENANCE / MAKER NOTES

While the base bears a six-character Kangxi reign mark, this is understood to be apocryphal and typical of late Qing Dynasty porcelain. This was a common homage to earlier high-quality Kangxi wares, especially in the 19th century. The motif of boys at play was a favored design during the Qing dynasty, symbolizing the Confucian ideal of large, prosperous families and the wish for many sons. A near-identical example sold at Crafoord Auktioner Stockholm in 2023 for 321 GBP, confirming the desirability and collectability of this form and decoration.
