🔍 PROVENANCE / MAKER NOTES
Caithness Glass was founded in 1961 in Wick, Scotland, and rose to international acclaim after 1969 for its modern paperweights. The company was granted a Royal Warrant as glassmaker to the Queen Mother and remains a respected name in collectible glass.
This design was created by Colin Terris, Caithness’s chief designer from 1968 until 2006, who revolutionized contemporary paperweights with innovative techniques and themes. The Hummingbird was the first release in the Exotic Birds series, inspired by the Thornbill hummingbird native to Peru and Colombia. Limited to 1,000 pieces, each weight is signed and numbered, making it a sought-after collector’s item.
