WWI Brass Theodolite by E R Watts and Son No 503 No 5 Mk I
£ 395.00
On offer is a WWI British military brass theodolite by E. R. Watts and Son, a respected London maker known for high-quality optical and surveying instruments from the late 19th century through the early 20th century. This example carries the British military broad arrow marking, confirming its issue for Army use—very likely within Royal Artillery field operations during the First World War.
Constructed in lacquered brass, the instrument retains its original untouched patina, with engraved markings, serial numbers and crossed-out service lines that reflect its active military history. The theodolite measures approximately 15 inches (38 cm) in length and 7.5 inches (19 cm) in height. The optics remain clear, though one mirror shows a scratch and a screw is missing, as seen in the photographs.
