Decorated with a vibrant green swirl ground, this impressive plate features a finely detailed raised dragon created using the traditional moriage technique with gilt highlights. Rich in colour and texture, it is a striking example of Japanese export porcelain.

Dragonware became one of Japan’s most recognisable export ceramics during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The moriage technique, created by applying raised slip decoration by hand, gave these pieces their distinctive three dimensional appearance. This example remains in very good vintage condition with only minor age related wear. A fine example of Japanese Dragonware that brings character and authenticity to any collection or interior.
