On offer is a group of three vintage Chinese ceramic figures, likely dating from the mid twentieth century. The hand painted group includes a seated scholar holding a scroll, an elderly rural figure wearing a straw hat and a boy seated upon a reclining water buffalo.

The boy and water buffalo is a longstanding subject in Chinese art, associated with rural life and also used in Chan Buddhist imagery to represent the path towards enlightenment. The buffalo figure bears CHINA in relief underneath, while the two standing figures have hollow bases.
