On offer is a vintage English cast iron SS Great Britain plaque by Salop Iron Works. This oval wall plaque depicts Brunel’s celebrated steamship in relief, cutting through waves under sail with smoke rising from its funnel. The front is named SS Great Britain, while the reverse bears the Salop Iron Works foundry mark and Made in England inscription. An integral hanging hole allows it to be displayed on a wall.

Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and launched at Bristol in 1843, the SS Great Britain was the world’s largest ship at the time and the first iron hulled, screw propelled ocean going steamship. This vintage cast iron SS Great Britain plaque is an appealing piece of British maritime and industrial heritage.
