Thomas Williams Safety Lamp Post Office Issue 1974 Brass Steel Lamp
£85.00
On offer is a Thomas Williams safety lamp manufactured in 1974 for Post Office underground inspection work. Produced in brass and steel by Thomas & Williams of Aberdare, Wales, this is a less common variant of the company’s famous safety lamps. While best known for supplying the mining industry, Thomas & Williams also produced lamps for other industrial applications, making Post Office issued examples particularly collectable.
This Thomas Williams safety lamp retains its original maker’s plaque and 1974 date stamp, confirming its authenticity. It stands approximately 10 inches tall excluding the handle. The lamp is in good vintage condition with expected age related wear. The original handle is missing, although this does not detract from its display value and a suitable replacement brass handle could be fitted if desired. A scarce piece of British industrial and postal history from one of Wales’ most respected manufacturers.
