Antique Sterling Silver Spoons by Bateman and Josiah Williams
£ 130.00
On offer is a pair of antique English sterling silver spoons crafted by two respected names in nineteenth- and early nineteenth-century British silversmithing. One spoon was made in Exeter in 1857 by Josiah Williams & Co, noted for producing refined flatware and ecclesiastical silver. The second dates to 1802 and bears the hallmark of Peter, Ann and William Bateman, a celebrated London silversmithing family whose Georgian silver is highly sought after. Together they offer a fine representation of English sterling craftsmanship across two distinct periods.
The spoons have a combined weight of approximately 74.8 grams. The larger example shows a few minor dents to the bowl, while both display light wear consistent with age. A well-matched pair for collectors of English antique silver spoons.
