Brass 30mm Shell Case Welch Regiment Trench Art 1982

On offer is a 1982 brass 30mm shell case adapted as a piece of British military trench art. Standing approximately 6.75 inches tall, it has an applied Welch Regiment badge featuring the Prince of Wales’s feathers, the motto Ich Dien and a scroll reading The Welch.

The base carries military manufacturing and date markings associated with Radway Green production. The empty shell case has an aged brass patina and was probably created as a regimental keepsake or display piece, although its precise original purpose is unknown.

The Welch Regiment was formed in 1881 from the 41st and 69th Regiments of Foot, with the 41st tracing its history to 1719. The regiment adopted the historic Welch spelling in 1921 and became part of the Royal Regiment of Wales in 1969.
