Glass Paperweight Thuringian Millefiori Antique Nineteenth Century

£45.00

On offer is a small antique Thuringian millefiori glass paperweight dating to the nineteenth century, circa 1890. The weight is unsigned and displays a dense arrangement of colourful millefiori canes set beneath a clear domed surface, creating a richly patterned and traditional appearance.

Thuringia, in central Germany, was a major centre of glassmaking throughout the nineteenth century and is particularly associated with early millefiori paperweights. Workshops in the region produced finely detailed weights using complex cane work, many of which were left unsigned and exported widely across Europe. The varied floral and geometric canes seen here are characteristic of Thuringian production of this period.

The paperweight is in good condition and retains strong colour and clarity. A genuine example of nineteenth century continental glassmaking that offers both historical interest and classic millefiori appeal.
