On offer is a rare Regency porcelain sauce tureen, cover and matching stand, dating to circa 1820 and attributed to the John Rose factory at Coalport. The white porcelain has Dulong inspired blind moulding, hand painted floral bouquets, elaborate gilt vine decoration and a distinctive rectangular gilt finial.

Coalport produced richly decorated tableware during the Regency period and frequently adapted moulded designs influenced by earlier Meissen porcelain. This Regency porcelain sauce tureen is a complete three piece set, retaining its original cover and shaped stand.

The condition requires careful attention. The interior is heavily stained and crazed, with several hairlines carrying discolouration through to the exterior. There is also age related wear to the gilding. Please study the photographs carefully. Despite these faults, it remains a scarce and highly decorative example of early 19th century English porcelain.
