The pump is constructed from brass and iron and retains its original black rubber sleeve handle. Stirrup pumps were manually operated devices designed to draw water from any available source, making them highly effective during the Blitz and throughout the war years. This example shows very little wear for its age, with fittings, frame, and handle all well preserved. The George VI marking and 1941 date stamp remain clear and legible. The pump measures approximately 28 inches in length and represents a strong and authentic piece of wartime Home Front history.
