On offer is a rare mid-century decorative plate designed by the celebrated Danish artist Jacob E. Bang for Nymølle, Denmark. Bang, known as one of Denmark’s pioneering modernist designers, produced a number of striking graphic works for Nymølle in the mid-20th century, and this plate—Adam and the Two Serpents—is among the more sought-after designs.
The piece features Bang’s distinctive linear illustration style, depicting Adam and Eve flanking the Tree of Knowledge entwined with two serpents. The plate measures just over 8 inches in diameter and is in good condition with no chips or cracks. A fine example of Scandinavian modern ceramics and an excellent collector’s piece.
