Port Orford cedar is a rare and highly valued West Coast timber, native only to a narrow coastal range between Oregon and northern California. Known for its fine, swirling grain and notable aromatic qualities, it has long been prized by craftsmen for both durability and beauty.

This substantial bowl measures approximately 14 inches in diameter and 6 inches in height, with striking grain patterns characteristic of this scarce wood. The base bears the inscription Cedar Port Orford, and the upper rim shows the signature D Woodward, though part of the script has worn with age. The bowl shows light dents, surface marks and natural wear consistent with an older, well-used piece, adding to its authenticity and rustic charm. A strong example of carved Port Orford cedar bowl craftsmanship.
