Swansea Porcelain Cup and Saucer Welsh Fluted Gilt Circa 1820
£120.00
On offer is a rare early nineteenth century Swansea porcelain cup and saucer dating to around 1820. Beautifully potted with a fluted body, the set is decorated with rich gilt rims, a fully gilded scroll handle and a finely detailed gilt floral motif to the centre of both the cup and saucer. Produced in Glamorgan between 1814 and 1826, Swansea porcelain is celebrated for its exceptional translucency, refined craftsmanship and elegant decoration, making original pieces highly desirable among collectors of Welsh porcelain.
The cup measures approximately 3.5 inches in diameter excluding the handle and stands just under 2 inches high. The matching saucer measures approximately 6 inches in diameter. Both pieces are presented in good antique condition with only light rubbing to the gilding consistent with age and use, and no chips or cracks. A fine example of a Swansea porcelain cup and saucer with excellent display and collector appeal.
