Glass Rummer Armorial Crest Sultan of Oman Rare Engraved
£275.00
On offer is a rare glass rummer engraved with the armorial crest associated with the Sultan of Oman. The rummer is finely made, with a faceted lower bowl and clear engraved decoration to the upper section, centred with the Omani royal emblem beneath a crown. The engraving is crisp and well defined, indicating careful craftsmanship.
The emblem originates from the royal crest of the Al Said dynasty, first adopted in the mid eighteenth century and later becoming the national emblem of the Sultanate of Oman. During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries its use expanded under the reigns of Sultan Faisal bin Turki and Sultan Taimur bin Feisal, before being incorporated into the national flag in 1970. The crowned version of the emblem was reserved for directly royal entities and branches of the Sultan’s Armed Forces. Glassware bearing this armorial is highly uncommon and was likely produced for official or ceremonial use. This example stands approximately 5.5 inches tall and is in good condition.
A scarce and historically significant glass rummer with strong appeal to collectors of armorial and Middle Eastern related antiques.
