On offer is a large pair of 19th-century Victorian Staffordshire pottery spaniels, modelled in the classic seated form with flowing coats and gilt embellishment. These well-known mantlepiece dogs were popular throughout the Victorian era and became a hallmark of English domestic ceramics, produced by numerous Staffordshire potteries from the mid-19th century onward.
Both examples are in good condition with no chips or cracks. Wear is present to the paintwork and gilding, consistent with age and display. Each spaniel stands at approximately 13.5 inches tall, giving the pair strong decorative presence and authentic period charm.
