On offer is an antique brass and steel miners safety lamp made by Richard Johnson, Clapham and Morris Ltd of Manchester and Liverpool. The lamp retains its glass chamber and distinctive tall vented bonnet.

Richard Johnson, Clapham and Morris Ltd was established around 1872 and manufactured miners safety lamps alongside other industrial products. These lamps enclosed the flame and could provide miners with a warning of dangerous gases such as firedamp.

The lamp is in good antique condition with expected surface wear. The glass has a long melted line, as shown in the images, but remains structurally intact.
