Meriden Co. Silver Plate Butter Server – Victorian Domed Dish c.1862–77
£ 195.00
On offer is a 19th-century American silver-plated butter server by the Meriden Company, listed as Item 4940 in their 1886 catalogue. Meriden was one of the leading U.S. silver manufacturers of the Victorian period, later merging with 1847 Rogers Bros before becoming the Meriden Britannia Company. Their work is known for its ornate engraving and high-quality plating.
This domed butter server stands approximately 12.5 inches tall and features richly engraved Victorian floral decoration to the lid and body. The piece originally included a side-mounted fork holder, now missing, but the server remains highly decorative and fully functional. A fine example of American silver plate design from the mid to late 19th century.
A striking display piece with strong collector appeal.
