On offer is a base metal commemorative medal produced for the planned coronation of King Edward VIII at Westminster Abbey on 12 May 1937. The obverse features a portrait of Edward VIII surrounded by a royal inscription.

The reverse carries the coronation wording and scheduled date beneath a crowned shield and decorative branches. Edward VIII abdicated in December 1936, so the planned ceremony never took place. Unofficial medals had already been manufactured, leaving evocative reminders of the coronation that never happened.
