Chinese Porcelain Kangxi Anhua Dish Circa 1700
£125.00
On offer is a Chinese blue and white porcelain dish dating to the Kangxi period, 1662 to 1722, and approximately circa 1700. The square form has canted corners and is hand painted in underglaze cobalt blue with geometric borders and floral sprays around the exterior.
Subtle incised floral medallions and scrollwork decorate the interior. Known as anhua, meaning hidden decoration, these motifs become most visible under angled or transmitted light. A brown dressed rim completes this Kangxi anhua porcelain dish, while the unglazed underside retains firing grit and kiln marks.
