Georgian Old Sheffield Plate Soup Tureen Regency Silver
£295.00
On offer is an authentic Georgian Regency silver plated soup tureen and cover dating from circa 1820. Crafted in fused Old Sheffield Plate, this heavy vessel features robust cast foliate scroll feet, decorative beaded twin side handles, and a matching beaded handle loop set atop a stepped domed cover.
Old Sheffield Plate was developed in the 18th century by fusing sheets of sterling silver to copper base metal, creating grand tableware for aristocracy prior to the introduction of electroplating. Weighing a substantial 3.5 kg, this piece demonstrates the quality casting and construction typical of late Georgian silversmithing. A fine example of Georgian Old Sheffield Plate silver that brings character and authenticity to any interior.
