The reverse carries the Edwardian Fine China backstamp and an account of the federation’s history. Known as The Fed, the South Wales Miners’ Federation was established in 1898 and became an important organisation within the Welsh coalfield. The text refers to the miners’ strike of 1984 to 1985, confirming that the plate was produced after this period.
