Treacle Glaze Toby Character Jug Early 19th Century Rockingham Pottery
£ 40.00
On offer is an early 19th century treacle glaze Toby character jug modelled as the Snuff Taker. Made in the style associated with Rockingham Pottery, the piece displays the classic two-tone treacle glaze in deep brown and blond tones. Rockingham became well known in the 18th and 19th centuries for its richly glazed earthenwares and finely cast figures, and this jug follows that tradition with strong moulding and expressive detail.
The jug stands approximately 9.75 inches tall and survives in very good antique condition for its age, with two rim chips noted and visible in the photographs. A fine example of an English treacle glaze Toby jug with strong period character.
