On offer is an antique 19th century Victorian brass coal scuttle, British made by Henry Fearncombe and Co of Wolverhampton. The Phoenix trade mark is present beneath the base. The company produced decorative metalware at its Phoenix Works and exhibited coal boxes at the Great Exhibition of 1851.

This substantial brass coal scuttle has decorative linear detailing and a turned ebony handle. It remains in as found, uncleaned condition with its original patina, surface wear, oxidation and discolouration. It has deliberately not been polished, leaving the buyer free to clean it if desired. Two very small holes are present on the top, possibly indicating that a fitting is missing, although their original purpose is uncertain.
