On offer is an original watercolour painting depicting Donnington Castle near Newbury, Berkshire. The atmospheric landscape shows the castle’s distinctive twin towered gatehouse surrounded by mature trees and rendered in soft natural tones.

Donnington Castle was built during the late fourteenth century and endured a lengthy siege during the English Civil War. Most of the castle was later demolished, leaving its impressive gatehouse standing.

The reverse is inscribed Donnington Castle Newbury and appears to be dated 1962. No artist’s signature is currently visible, although one may be concealed beneath the mount. This framed Donnington Castle watercolour painting remains in good overall condition.
