Arts and Crafts Pewter Vase Roundhead Samuel Groves Art Nouveau
£65.00
On offer is an Arts and Crafts pewter vase by Samuel Groves & Co Ltd of Birmingham, produced under their well known Roundhead name during the early 20th century. Dating to around the 1920s, this hand hammered pewter vase displays the honest craftsmanship of the Arts and Crafts movement alongside flowing Art Nouveau influences. It features a finely modelled repoussé rose to the body, three applied loop handles and circular roundels to the foot, giving the piece a distinctive sculptural appearance.
Samuel Groves & Co Ltd was one of Birmingham’s respected metalware manufacturers, with its Roundhead pewter becoming highly regarded for its quality, hand finished surfaces and artistic designs. Standing approximately 10 inches tall, the vase has developed a pleasing aged patina. It remains structurally sound, with a dent to the foot rim and some distortion to the upper rim consistent with age and use.
A fine example of a Roundhead Samuel Groves pewter vase that captures the craftsmanship and design of the Arts and Crafts period.
