Antique Tinned Copper Islamic Bowl Ottoman Iznik Engraved Metalwork
£70.00
On offer is an antique tinned copper Islamic bowl from the late Ottoman period, decorated with hand-engraved Iznik-style floral and geometric motifs. Tinned copper vessels were widely used across the Ottoman world, with craftsmen applying a thin layer of tin to give a silvery finish and protect the copper beneath. Much of the tin on this example has worn with age, leaving a rich, authentic patina.
The bowl has a flared form with a wide rim and a subtly fluted lower section, all shaped by hand. The engraved decoration remains visible and reflects the stylised botanical themes characteristic of Ottoman metalwork. It is in original, untouched condition and has not been polished or restored. A fine and genuine example of late Ottoman engraved metalwork.
