On offer is an antique sterling silver thimble hallmarked for Chester, 1894, crafted in the late Victorian period. The piece features finely engraved foliate and geometric decoration and is presented in its original fitted case marked Stier and Son, Jewellers, New Bond Street. The maker’s mark C and Co belongs to the partnership of Saunders and Hollings, respected 19th century silversmiths known for their detailed small silverware.

This Victorian silver thimble stands at approximately 25mm in height and shows the careful workmanship typical of the period. The condition is very good for its age, with no holes and only light surface wear from long term handling. A well preserved example of Chester assayed silver, now increasingly sought after since the assay office closure.
