Antique Repoussé Sterling Silver Sugar Sifter – Ornate Crown Top
£ 45.00
On offer is an exquisite and beautifully crafted antique sterling silver sugar sifter, showcasing ornate repoussé work with elegant flowing motifs and crowned with a finely pierced domed top. Standing approximately 4 inches tall, this piece is an excellent example of late Victorian to early Edwardian silversmithing.
The sifter bears rubbed hallmarks which are still partially legible; a small lowercase “d” date letter can be seen, likely placing its origin in the late 19th or early 20th century. Although the maker’s mark and assay office are not fully readable, the craftsmanship and design strongly suggest British origin, potentially from Birmingham or London silversmiths of the period.
The entire piece is untouched and retains its original patina, allowing collectors the choice to polish or preserve the antique surface. The repousse design wraps the entire body in classical flourishes and drapery-like folds, culminating in an opulent crown-form top finial, which unscrews cleanly for functional use.
