The exact original purpose is uncertain, but the form is both decorative and functional.

The owl stands at approximately 3.5 inches tall. Condition is generally good, with a tiny pinhole visible on the lid and a small non-penetrating hole to the back, as shown in the images. A charming and unusual example of early 20th-century novelty silver plate.
