Eichwald Majolica Nautical Planter Tube Lined Bohemian Pottery
£ 95.00
On offer is a rare Eichwald majolica planter from Bohemia, decorated with a striking tube-lined nautical scene featuring a sailing ship cresting stylised waves. Produced by the renowned Eichwald Pottery works, this piece exemplifies the late 19th to early 20th-century Bohemian tradition of richly glazed, relief-decorated majolica.
The planter is finished in a deep green glaze that contrasts beautifully with the raised ship and wave motifs. It stands at approximately 6.5 inches tall with a diameter of 6.5 inches, offering a substantial and decorative form. Condition is very good, with no chips, cracks or repairs, and a clean, well-preserved glaze.
Eichwald Pottery—founded in 1871 by Bernhard Bloch—became one of the leading producers of Bohemian majolica. Their tube-lined wares and distinctive coloured glazes remain highly sought after by collectors of European art pottery.
A fine and increasingly scarce example of Eichwald majolica, notable for its nautical motif and strong display presence.
