Japanese Porcelain Hotei Figure Blue and White Happy Buddha
£95.00
On offer is an antique Japanese porcelain figure of Hotei, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Hotei, one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Japan, is recognised by his round belly, cheerful expression, and association with abundance and happiness. This example is hand painted in a classic blue and white palette and signed to the base, reflecting the long Japanese tradition of finely decorated porcelain figures produced during the Meiji and early Taishō periods.
The figure measures approximately 6.5 inches in height and roughly the same in width. It is in good condition with no chips or cracks. A charming antique representation of Hotei and an appealing piece of Japanese porcelain artistry.
