£85.00

On offer is an antique Japanese white metal pendant composed of five linked discs, each featuring a different animal in relief on the front and the name of a Japanese city on the reverse. The cities represented include Nagasaki, Yokohama, Osaka, Tokyo and what appears to read as Cose. Pieces of this type were often produced as souvenir or export items in the late 19th to early 20th century, frequently silver-plated and decorated with regional imagery. The discs depict a variety of animals, including a dragon, monkey, tiger and other symbolic creatures. The clasp has been replaced at some point with a brass example.
