On offer is an early nineteenth century hand coloured Caerdiff Castle engraving by William Woolnoth, after a drawing by Henry Gastineau from an original sketch by John Hughes. This detailed view shows Cardiff Castle with St John the Baptist Church in the background, together with figures and a dog in the grounds.

The design was first published in 1825 and was subsequently reissued during the following decades. An uncoloured impression of the same engraving is held in the Welsh Landscape Collection at the National Library of Wales. The antiquarian spelling Caerdiff appeared alongside Cardiff during the early nineteenth century. This historic view records the castle before its major Victorian alterations, while the hand colouring was added later.
