On offer is an antique glass finger bowl rinser dating from the late Georgian to early Victorian period. The bowl is finely cut with repeating oval and fan motifs to the sides and is finished with a very deep star cut pontil base that rises well up into the body, a feature associated with quality hand cut glass of the period.

Finger bowls were an established part of Georgian and early Victorian table settings, used for rinsing the fingers between courses. English cut glass examples such as this reflect the high standard of craftsmanship achieved in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, when deep cutting and bold star bases were both decorative and functional.

The condition is good overall. There are small flea bite chips present to the bowl on the star cutting, as shown in the photographs. Despite this, the bowl displays well and retains strong clarity and crisp cutting. A fine and usable survivor of early English table glass.
