On offer is an antique French majolica plate dating from the late nineteenth century. Its moulded border is decorated with mottled brown, blue and cream glazes surrounding a deep green centre depicting a rural cottage among trees.

The reverse carries an impressed French patent related mark including the words Fabrique de Moules, Brevet d’Invention and S.G.D.G. The mark refers to a patented mould or manufacturing design and does not identify the pottery factory itself. This French majolica cottage plate is an attractive example of richly glazed continental decorative pottery.
