On offer is an antique English silver plate candle snuffer and wick trimmer, measuring approximately 7.5 inches in length. This traditional domestic implement combines scissors with an attached box and blade mechanism designed to trim and catch the wick, keeping candle flames neat and reducing smoke.

Candle snuffer trimmers such as this were essential household items during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, reflecting both practicality and decorative metalwork. The pierced finger loops and shaped snuffer box are typical of English silver plate examples, offering both functionality and period charm.

Condition is good overall. The chopping blade mechanism works, although it sometimes does not return unless the scissors are opened fully, so care should be taken to open the handles wide when using. A pleasing and authentic example of an antique English silver plate candle snuffer trimmer.
